Ashaa Siewkumar

While working in Hollywood as an actor, Ashaa Siewkumar discovered that her true calling was behind the camera as a documentary filmmaker. By training her lens on the injustices of the world, Ashaa became a powerful advocate for justice and the universal rights of women and children. In 2020, she created a short film about the Black Lives Matter movement. Her goal is to expand it into a documentary feature incorporating conversations about the intersection of the BLM movement and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her recent film, Swaha: A Journey of Transformation, was shot entirely on location in India. The inspiring documentary follows Ashaa, His Holiness Rahuleshwarananji and Kurt Johnson on their journey for peace.
Informed by her experience as a Writer and Producer, Ashaa is currently working on Women in Life, a television series where real women discuss the issues that affect them most.
